Welcome to Fylde Kids Foundation !

Ensuring no child on the Fylde Coast goes without

Fylde Kids Foundation began in 2023, when a number of local businesses started noticing a worrying pattern. Schools, youth groups, and community organisations were reaching out more and more, all for the same reason. Children were going without things they should never have to go without.

Not luxuries or extras, but the basics. A proper bed to sleep in, food in the cupboard, a warm coat, a school uniform that fits, and the chance to take part instead of being left out.

It quickly became clear that this wasn’t something that could be ignored, so we came together with a shared goal. If children in our community were struggling, we would step in and do something about it. Not just to help in the moment, but to give young people the support they need to feel secure, included, and able to thrive.

Since becoming a registered charity, we have taken the time to properly understand the reality for families across the Fylde Coast. We have looked at living standards, listened to schools and community groups, and built a clearer picture of where children are being most affected. What that has shown us is simple. Early support matters, and the sooner we step in, the more difference we can make.

Our focus has always been on real, practical impact. That might mean providing a bed so a child has somewhere safe and comfortable to sleep, helping a family through a difficult period with emergency support, or making sure a child can go to school with the uniform they need to feel confident and included. It also means stepping in where other services cannot be accessed, including situations where local food banks are not an option. We are not here to replace the incredible work already being done across the community, but to make sure that when there is a gap, no child is left without support.

We work closely with local businesses, schools, community groups, and clubs to identify needs and respond directly. Over time, that has built strong relationships and trust, and we now regularly receive referrals from professionals across the community, including early help teams, council services, and even MPs’ offices. Parents and carers can also come to us directly, because support should be accessible and responsive when it is needed most.

Right now, your support allows us to respond to immediate need. It helps us provide essential items, support families through difficult periods, and make sure children are not left behind because of circumstances outside their control. Every fundraiser, every donation, and every act of support has a direct and meaningful impact on a child’s life.

At the same time, we are working towards something bigger. Our long term goal is to create a dedicated community hub for children and families across the Fylde Coast. A space where support is not just reactive, but consistently available. A place that could bring together a café, a play area, learning spaces for children who are home educated or need alternative education, a sensory room, a music room, a skills workshop, meeting rooms, and a well run clothing bank. Somewhere families can access help without barriers, and children can learn, develop, and feel part of something positive.

To continue growing and to reach more families effectively, we also need to strengthen how we operate. One of our key priorities is securing a vehicle that allows us to collect donations and deliver essential items quickly and reliably. At the moment, this is one of the main things limiting how much we can do, and improving this would immediately increase the support we are able to provide.

Everything we do is powered by people. We are a small team of volunteers, with no large infrastructure behind us, just a shared commitment to making sure no child is left behind. The support we provide only exists because people choose to donate, give their time, and step forward to fundraise. The need is growing, and without that support, we simply cannot say yes as often as we need to. Fundraising is not just about raising money, it is about creating real change in a child’s life. It is about giving families breathing space, giving children confidence, and making sure they feel included rather than excluded.

Every donation we receive is given in trust, and we take that seriously. That is why we assess every request carefully, ask for evidence, and make decisions based on genuine need. We know those decisions are not always easy, but our responsibility is to make sure support reaches the families who need it most.

If you have been thinking about getting involved, this is your moment. Whether it is something small or something ambitious, it all makes a difference. Every fundraiser helps us reach another child, support another family, and move closer to the future we are building.

Together, we can make sure no child on the Fylde Coast goes without.
